- Instrument Overview
The Si-NIR Matrix DVK is a plug-and-play evaluation and development kit to enable quick assessment of the fit Si-NIR Matrix in different applications and product designs. The core sensor is a compact, high-performance NIR spectral sensing module powered by Si-Ware’s MEMS-based FT-IR technology. Its large spot size improves averaging over heterogeneous samples, enhancing measurement accuracy and repeatability. OEM-ready and easy to integrate, it delivers lab-grade performance in a robust form factor—ideal for handheld devices, smart instruments, and embedded systems. The kit is ideal for system developers, researchers, and product designers who want to leverage Si-NIR Matrix’s capabilities to develop fast, accurate, and portable solutions with material analysis capabilities in a wide variety of sectors such as agriculture, food, biomedicine, industry, and environmental monitoring. The kit’s communication and control are managed via Si-Spect Analyze software, which also facilitates spectral data acquisition and visualization.
- Safety Instructions

accessories in protective packaging. Make sure that it is packed securely using the original
packaging.
Handle the device carefully and avoid sudden or sharp movements during transportation.
Immediately after delivery of the goods, please check the shipment according to the packing
slip to ensure the presence of all accessories and no damage.
Report any transport-related damage to the carrier without delay.
Save the packaging materials for future transportation needs.
b- Storage
Ensure that the storage environment meets the specified ambient conditions (see “Technical Specifications”).
Whenever possible, store the device in its original packaging to ensure maximum protection.
- TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Refer to the data sheet (please select the standard specs you see proper across all the devices manual.
- DEVICE COMPONENTS
The Si-NIR Matrix DVK is delivered in a hard case along with its accessories in a single package. The contents of the box are shown in Figure 3. The package includes all the necessary items required for the operation of the device. The box mainly includes the following items:

- Si-NIR Matrix
The Si-NIR Matrix is the core sensor of the kit, integrating both the optical assembly and the complete electronics. It is equipped with a flat, removable window adapter as the standard option. This adapter enables measurement of a broad range of easily handled sample types. It ensures precise sample placement over the optical window by aligning with the grooves and notches of the core sensor’s design. This default configuration is ideal for analyzing most solid or semi-solid samples that do not require containment.
- DVK smart cover
The DVK smart cover, supplied with the device, mounts directly onto the standard flat window adapter. It incorporates a built-in calibration tile, ensuring quick and reliable reference checks whenever needed. The cover also protects the optical window from dust, contamination, and accidental damage when not in use. By shielding the measurement area, it helps maintain accuracy and repeatability over time, the DVK smart cover is shown in Figure 4.

- Petri dish accessories
The Petri dish accessories are used to analyze powders and ground solids. The accessories consist of three Petri dishes, a Petri dish window adapter that is installed as a replacement of the standard flat cover, a Petri dish calibration tile, and a weight that is used to secure the powder or ground solids. This accessory allows standard petri dishes to be positioned in alignment with the optical window. This configuration is used to prevent the sample material from falling into the instrument. The Petri dish accessory, the calibration tile, and the weight are shown in Figures 5 and 6.

- Vial accessories
The vial accessories are used to analyze liquids. This accessory is designed to hold standard vials in alignment with the optical window. It helps ensure consistent positioning of the vial during measurement and minimizes the risk of spillage or contamination of the optical interface. The accessories include three vials, a vial window adapter, two stamps with two different Optical Path Length (OPL) of 0.5 mm and 2 mm. The stamps are used to ….. The vial accessory, the vial window adapter, and the stamps are shown in Figure 7.

- MAINTENANCE
- Maintenance & Cleaning
Excessive contamination on the device surface or in the measurement area can interfere with the proper functioning of the optical system, potentially leading to deviations in analytical results and reduced overall performance. Furthermore, the accumulation of dust and debris may cause premature wear or malfunction of sensitive mechanical and electronic components, shortening the device’s operational lifespan. Therefore, routine cleaning and strict adherence to the maintenance procedures recommended by the manufacturer are essential for maintaining both measurement accuracy and the long-term integrity of the instrument.
CAUTIONS:
- The front of the instrument is constructed with a sapphire window. Possible scratches, cracks or dirt on the sapphire window directly affect the measurement results. Precautions are recommended to minimize these potential risks.
- Do not use aggressive solvents, which can damage the surfaces of the instrument.
- Be aware of the damage of the instrument due to spillage of chemicals or solvents.
- Clean the instrument immediately if chemicals or solvents are spilled on the device.
- The plug connections (especially the power plug) absolutely must be protected against contamination.
